SEPTEMBER ARCHIVE

POSTED:  September 28, 2007

This post is dedicated to our beloved friend Guzehein.  He tragically died in a car crash

yesterday.  He will be greatly missed by our family !!  We are thankful to know that

he is rejoicing with our Father in Heaven today !!

We spent New Years Eve with him two weeks ago.  He gave Andy and I millennium t-shirts and Abby this cute little

cultural shirt.  Abby loved her Uncle “Hein” (as she called him) and gave him a big kiss after he gave her this gift.

We enjoyed sitting around the bonfire with him that night

We lit some fireworks & Abby was a little scared, but her Uncle Hein comforted her

Guzehein made sure he spoiled Abby.  She loved every minute of it !!

Guzehein always bought Abby little gifts.  We went out to eat not to long ago & Guzehein took Abby

to a little kids shop around the corner and bought her a hat and a cell phone.

We always enjoyed including Guzehein in our American Holiday Celebrations.

Here’s Guzehein and his “Honey” (as he affectionately called Abby) celebrating the Fourth of July

Earlier that day, Guzehein helped us take a bunch of trees out to our project site.  While we were there

he made sure he spent a little quality time with Abby.  Here they are petting the baby goats.

Guzehein would just drop by the house sometimes to play with Abby.

Here they are playing in our front yard.

We celebrated most of our major holidays with Guzehein.  Here we are celebrating Easter.

We went on a picnic up in the mountains.  Guzehein didn’t let

Abby’s feet touch the ground.  He always wanted to hold her.

We sure will miss Guzehein !!  He was such a good friend to our family !!

Abby turned 18 months old on Friday, Sept. 14th !!

We try and take a picture of her with Buddy the Bear on all her special birthdays !!

Here’s Abby’s 1 month old picture with Buddy the bear.  See how much she’s grown !!

On September 11th we celebrated the New Year in the Country we live in.  They are on a different calendar

than us, so this year marks the year 2000 for them.  It was a VERY special New Year for everybody around here !

We celebrated the new year with Abby’s Uncle Guzehein.

At Guzehein’s fruit stand, we set up a bonfire & set off fireworks.  It was a lot of fun !

If you look in the background you can see that we drew quite a crowd

After the fireworks were over, we sat around and drank tea.  Even Abby got a few sips of tea.

This crazy guy watched us the entire time we were drinking our tea.

We were driving around town earlier in the day and we saw a beautiful rainbow.

On New Years Day we had lunch at our house workers house.  Abby loved their chicken.

We ate lunch & then Zebiba and her mother made us coffee.

They start by roasting the fresh coffee beans.

One of the New Year traditions is for little girls to go house to house and sing a song.  The people at each house will give them a few small coins in return.  Some of the girls came by while we were at lunch.  Abby’s handing them a little bit of money.

For dinner, we went to our next door neighbor’s house.  Our next door neighbor’s son was riding on their sheep.  It was pretty of funny.

Abby had fun playing with the neighbor kids

One of Abby’s newest feats has been learning to eat with a fork.  She’s getting pretty good at it.

Abby just got a new little table that we brought back from IKEA in Dubai.

She set her babies up in the chairs and had a little tea party.  We thought it was cute.

We went bowling the other night with some friends.  Abby wanted to try her hand at the game.

It’s been pretty rainy around here lately, so Abby hasn’t been able to play outside as often

as she would like.  This past Wednesday was a pretty warm day, so we blew up her

swimming pool for her to play in.

The water was still pretty chilly, but Abby had a great time !!

She even convinced Mommy to hop in the pool with her.

Abby and Koleta went to a friends Birthday party this week.  The family had a photographer come and take pictures at the party.  The family was taking family pictures during the party & they wanted Abby to be in all their family photos.  We thought that was kind of funny.  Abby didn’t seem to mind.

We took a trip into the Capital this past week.  Abby does such a great job riding in her

car seat for long periods of time.  We are so thankful for such an easy going Daughter !!

September 12th is New Years Day here.  It will officially be the year 2000 on Wednesday.  People are buying

chickens, sheep and goats to eat for their New Year Dinner.  You usually see sheep or goats lying down tied to the

top of a vehicle.  We thought these sheep had an interesting ride.  This truck was actually driving

down the road with the sheep standing on top.

Abby and Andy visited a Millennium Fair in the Capital City.

While they were there Abby decided to try out Daddy’s sunglasses

After the fair they went by our friend’s house.  One of the kids in their neighborhood had a monkey.

Andy bought Abby a little plastic chair at the Millennium Fair.  Abby absolutely LOVES her new chair.

She pulled it into the living room & sat her little stool up next to it so she could have a little side table.

One of Abby’s favorite pastimes . . .  Reading Books.

Abby LOVES to get her hair wet.  We’re so happy that we have a real bathtub in our new house.  Abby’s getting a little small for her bath bucket.

Abby loves her Uncle Guzehein.  He bought Abby a baseball

cap and a play cell phone.  She absolutely loved it !!

The first thing Abby wanted to do in the morning was put on her cap and play with her phone
