False Banana Tree (AKA - Inset Tree) |
|
|
|
The people we work with are known for growing the
false banana tree. It is known as the
Inset tree around here. They use the
tree to make a type of bread. Here are
some pictures of the
Inset Trees in our area and a look at how the people use them. |

Now they are separating all the Different layers off the tree |
The very center
part of the tree is the only part they don’t eat. This part they give to the animals. |

Getting ready to shave some of the dirt
off the root of the tree |
This is the woman’s part of the work. Shaving all the pulp from the tree. |

They have to pound the tree pretty hard to get all
the pulp off |
Making sure they get every last bit off the leaves |

|
They use their feet to hold the leave while they
get the rest of the pulp off |
They have a small ceremony to Thank God once they
are finished with their work. |
