The country we live in is known for its Coffee.  If you visit a person’s house, your visit centers around the Coffee Ceremony.  Abby has learned to love coffee.  Kind of weird for a one year old, but kind of important if you live here.  One of our friends gave her a coffee set for her Birthday.  Here’s Abby drinking coffee with her play set.  Don’t worry, we don’t give her coffee at home.  She’s playing with water in her toy coffee set.

Abby doesn’t get to take baths in a regular bath tub all that often.  She just has a plastic green tub that she bathes in at home.  Abby loves the water, so bath time is an EXCITING time for her.  We went to the Capital last weekend and Abby got to take a bath in our friend’s bathtub.

Andy made Abby a little covered play area to play in outside.  Abby just loves it.  Here’s Abby playing in her playhouse outside.  She likes the playhouse, but she really loves to lay in the grass and play.

One of Abby’s favorite pastimes is reading (at least looking at the pictures).  The only times she ever sits still are when she’s eating, sleeping and reading.  Here are a few pictures of Abby reading her books.

We thought this was a funny picture.  Mmmmm, mac & cheese !!

I enjoy hanging out with Mommy !!

I take after my Daddy.  I LOVE the computer.

I really like to read.  Guidepost is my FAVORITE magazine !!

I’m really getting good at making a mess !!  Here are a few examples:

I even like to dig in the trash.

Mommy told me that I shouldn’t dig in the trash because it makes me dirty.  Then she made me take a bath.  That’s OK though because I LOVE bath time !!

Some more fun pic’s that Mom took today

We went to a little café yesterday for breakfast.  Outside, they had a cute little table of monkeys.  It was hilarious.  Abby wanted to drink coffee with them.

Abby loves playing with her puppy Molly.  Here she is giving Molly a BIG kiss.

She REALLY wanted Molly’s toy.  Molly really didn’t appreciate the hair pulling,

but she put up with it nicely.

Abby loves to use the sign language she’s learned.  She’s saying she’s all finished in this picture.

Some of our friends just left the Country and they gave Abby this doll house.  Abby’s really enjoying playing with it !

Today we got up extra early (4 AM) to attend a baptism.  Orthodox is the main Religion in the town we live in.  One of their traditions is to baptize baby boys when they are 40 days old.  Some of our good friends had a baby boy last month, so today was his baptism day.  This was the first time we’ve been invited to a baptism, so it was interesting to get to learn a little more about the Orthodox Culture.  This is a picture of one of the priests holding the baby while the other priest baptizes him.

After they Baptized him, they tied this string around his neck.  The string identifies him as an Orthodox Christian.

One of Abby’s favorite people in the whole world is her Uncle Guzehein.  He just kind of took our family under his wing when we came here & he loves Abby to death.  He’s the who gave Abby her local name, Abyssinia.  It really stuck & now everybody in town knows her by that name.
